Halson Designs PDS (photo heavy)

I am a sucker for some good kit in a local classified ad. A few minutes after an ad was posted for a Halson PDS I was on the phone with the guy setting up payment. I got the fork with blue and yellow elastomers in it, 4 spare whites, XTR v-brake, and shimano carbon brake booster for the bargain price of $55usd. Took a chance as the guy bought it new from his local shop in '02 and has ridden it sparingly, not to mention he was a mechanic, so I was pretty confident. Found a manual here on retrobike and broke the fork down for a good overhaul to determine it's condition and make it as shiny as possible before putting it on one of my bikes.

Here are some out of the shipping box, break down and clean up, and all put back together shots.

This is just out of the box. There was some mud inside the left boot due to a broken zip tie.

All scrubbed and cleaned up. It didn't take much. The boots were the hardest part to clean. The fork is surprisingly easy to disassemble. There are some close ups in this batch of the attention to cnc detail and the nice butted tubes. the elastomers as you can see are new looking, what a score!













Finally the finished, lubed, and reassembled beauty of the anodized red Halson PDS. I bet a set of springs would work just as well in this nice looking fork. Can't wait to put it on the Metal Guru!

i have an identical pair of those, shipped over from the states, mine came with medium and soft elastomers, which i replaced with hard and medium, and also a set of speed springs, which ive never used, i think mine are number 485.

Cool MattBrown. Have you I think it would be fairly difficult to try and dial in a speed spring in them. You'd have to swap out for different weights. I rode mine the other day and was pleasantly surprised. They were as stiff as my late 90's bombers and only seemed a top out a little because I have elastomers set for 180 when I'm 160 so the rebound was a bit strong. If theses had a disc mount they would be following me to the Spooky Darksde for sure. Anyone know of a front aftermarket disc adapter?
