Built this up to replace my '93 Hahanna (which is for sale, now sold ;) ) as a run-a-round.

I was using Schwalbe 'Crazy Bobs' in 2.35 size on the Hahanna, but they won't fit on the rear of the '98 Explosif, but do on my '97 Explosif, how frustrating!

Anyone got any 'street/road' tyres they don't need, say in 2.1 size?

The grey Oury grips are very nice, but do get dirty rather easily

My rear brake 'cable guide' is a bit 'Heath Robinson' but seems to do the trick!

Bit of occasional chain slip, I think it's probably new chain / older gears

The front brake cable hanger (thanks hoegaardenadds1) is a temporary measure until the fork mounted one arrives, but works ok.

Anyway, the spec...

Nice bike

Think would look miles better with a lower rise stem and flat handlebar IMO.

Yeah, I'm sure it would and it would also be too much of a pain in the neck (literally) for me to ride ;)

Up-date 25th August

Eventually got some tyres (Kenda Kommuter 2.0) on so I can use it now!

Rear cable guide is on it's way as is front cable hanger.

A few more pics :) ....

I like the Oury grips, but the grey shows any dirt a bit too easily  ....

Looking for a short cage rear mech now, and thinking of trying a single 'ring on the front

Nice bike ;) I'd prefer it with low rise stem and flat bars but no point it looking nice if it cripples you

Why the cantis though :?:

Thanks, it's come together ok :)

I agree, but at my age, with my health ;)

I had the canti's already and think they give a better 'feel' to the overall look of the bike, if that makes any sense :? I also wanted to use SS5's, maybe nostalgic :?:

Cheers

Either ditch the bars and stem or the thumbies and canti's, on a '98 I'd ditch the latter.

I know what you mean, but the spec is pretty much what I wanted, it just happened that a '98 frame came up ;)

Cheers
