Unlucky fella :( .

A design flaw of the early Middleburns, they addressed the problem by rotating the orientation of the square taper. Very good cranks nowadays.

All the originals were prone to shitting themselves if i remember rightly

makes a nice paperweight tho....... ;)

I've been using a set of RS3's on my old single speed for quite a few years without any problems but I have heard of more than a few failures with these older cranks. Not something you would want to happen 20 miles from home...

Yup, anyone running any make of cranks with the tapered hole orientated this way needs to examine them regularly or be prepared to take a flight :)
