Correction: I DID bend the frame. The drop out and hanger were totally twisted...

A pair of pliers soon sorted that though. New derailleur is fitted and it seems to shift better than ever.

I'm off to give it a test run! Harrah! :)

NICE! i think its because you didn't log in.
if not than i'll post it again.

im going for my first uphills this year tomorrow in Germany.
Im looking forward taking my giant giant.

hope you had fun ridin' today.

stem

I have decided to put a new (shorter) stem on the bike.
Right now I have a (original?) nitto stem that is like this one but than longer.

This one would be ideal. But I can't buy it anywhere.
All modern stems I find are very diffrent. They clamp to
the stearingcolum. mine doesn't have that.

Does one of you guys know where to get one of these older models
preferably 70/90 mm long and 22mm mounting and 26mm clamp?

C

I just searched that stem in google images, and I think it's actually longer than it looks in that photo. But I'm sure if you look around you could find a shorter one.

Okay, I'll take a picture tomorrow :)

It's in pieces at the moment since I snapped the rear mech off, I haven't ridden for a WEEK! :(

My current stem is btw 125mm.
I didnt know these guys would cost
50 euro.'you think I'd better stop by
a second hand bikedealer?

Everything on bikes seems to be expensive to me!
Ebay is a very good place to watch out for things like that though.

My poor old superlite has been falling to pieces lately... I managed to snap off the rear gear lever (it was plastic), so I've given up with gears, stripped off the front derailleur and am running it as a single speed. I've also flipped and chopped the handlebars into bullhorns :D

It looks positively vicious :twisted:

Pic of the bike before my trip to france
It took my this month over 2000k without failing
The only thing I replaced was the old tires for new
super slick clinchers Michelin Pro3 Race [/img]

Sexy bike. Nice matching forks and crank.
What kind of rims are you wearing?

This must be a the version produced in 1990.
Could you confirm that? serialnumer is on downtube.

C

After inquiries on the Giant forum the bike (superlite) appears to be
entered production in 1992. You have one a model that entered the
market that year. It has a more 80's style typography but doesn't have
the fades/gradient like the slightly older (1993-4) models. Mine and perhaps the most common is the pink (distinct nineties) version, with the then new 105 assembly from '95-'97. Older versions have the sh-600 or campag assembly.

i have two numbers firs is:
G0285
and the second:
5080231
the rims are Mavic a119

Since your serial number (the first portion) doesn't have any letters in between the numbers, I believe the frame was built prior to 1986.

G = Giant
MM = month
YY = year
I would decipher your serial code as: Frame built in Feb 1985 by Giant.
