The Vicious that found it's way home! (Previously: got away)

UPDATE: I bought the bike minus front wheel, fork, and stem back from GoldenEraMTB! He gave me a good price and I couldn't pass it up. The paint job is one of my favorites. Considering sending it back to Vicious for a proper touch up.

Greetings again retrobikers. This here is my old Vicious Monolith 26" single speed with ebb. I bought this frame a bunch of years back and built it up with some sweet parts. Unfortunately I just didn't really do all that much riding with it. I was working a lot and just didn't have time to get out of the city and ride. Since I never felt like I had a history with this particular bike I was about to put it up for sale when GoldenEraMtb listed his Bontrager Race in a local classified ad for sale. He mentioned he would consider doing a trade if something to his liking came his way. So we brokered a deal and off this bad boy went for the Bonty in my signature. I've always coveted the Bontragers so this was a good deal for me and I have no traders remorse, and thanks to him I have met all of you!

I rather liked the ebb, although it made the frame pretty heavy. Or at least it seemed that way. I had bought a single speed kit off some guy on ebay who had amassed a part arsenal. All in all I was very pleased with this build, I probably would have liked this bike a bit more if I had a modern suspension fork to go with it. The one issue I always had with it was the many attempts to cover paint chips with mismatched nail polish. It was just bothersome to me.

They started making them in Titanium as well!

Yes...a titanium monolith in my size would be perfect.

Hey Atom, thanks...it would be a keeper if it was only my size. My friend and I went riding yesterday, (he's 6'1' almost 6'2"), he on the monolith, me on my 85 fat chance. He loved it.

The lines are beautiful from the front and the back. The paint chips are bothersome, but only from up close. At speed, pasing you by, or from ten feet away, the bike looks perfect....and I adore the colors.

The bonty was too large for me as well, so I trade one great steel bike for another large great steel bike, neither of which I would ultimately be able to ride on a trail.

Happy to reunite the two of you. Thanks for the deal, as my phoenix will benefit from some of the parts...looking forward to seeing it touched up.

Will you be going up to NEw Paltz in person or shipping it to Vicious?

It's mine again!

I bought the Monolith back from GoldenEra. Have enough parts to put it back together but I am waiting for the right fork to present itself. I have a Girvin in the mail and a few Bombers lying about. We'll see what happens.

Now to get those pesky Hook Worm tires of. Damn those things are a nightmare!

Those hook worms are true to their name, but perhaps not as intended, hehe.

At least you only have to get one off, instead of the two :)
