1995 Fat Chance Shock-A-Billy

Grabbed this on a BIN on Ebay US about 5 minutes after it was listed.. :twisted: Mucho Appreciados [again!] to Mr. Zero for helping with shipping

An L, it should be the right size [that 96 M always felt a bit cramped]. The previous owner had it sat in his office awaiting restoration/rebuild but it never happened, so after a coupla years he decided to move it on. The owner before him had coated the frame in a weird lacquer, nail varnish like, so first job was to remove this carefully using a non abrasive cloth and my chick's nails Here's what it looked like out of the box:

This being the Third Billy I'll have owned, I'm planning on keeping this one seeing as it will fit properly. The build is 737 8sp XT, a bit of Blingle and some nice [almost NOS] Kooka cranks. I have a set of sprung Judy SLs and some nice Mag 21 SL Tis too, not sure which ones are going to adorn it yet tho. The decision will not be "Period Correct" based M900/231 Ceramic/DB DT wheelset [which I have just rebuilt with alloy nipples; Green front, Turquoise rear] and hopefully some Umma Gummas.. I also have a Turquoise 1" King to go in there, but given it came with a non-logo King [in the photo] I mightn't get around to changing it over for a while..

I'll post up some [cleaned & polished up] progress photos at the weekend

Cheers mate, I've had a go with some AutoSol on one SS and it is coming up a treat Brasso might be a less messy way of doing it?

It's a shame it's missing the TWP brace :?

autosol and elbow grease will be a better bet to get it looking bling bling shiny from that dull state its in now..

brasso is more of a finishing off product and something to polish it with now and again once youve finished to keep it looking nice

Okay, so I got home and attacked the rear triangle with AutoSol :shock: Man does it look good :twisted:

Then, not content with that amount of progress, I set about stripping my 3DV Ringle Holey Seatclamp [of its 3DV] using Caustic Soda :shock: At first I thought I'd well and truly rooted it; the clamp turned black, like it had been burned.. But after using the miracle that is AutoSol It looks awesome..

I decided to keep the DirtRag decal on the Driveside SeatStay, I guess it's been there a few years The AMP Rear End polished up nice, and the Paint is in great shape for its age. Just need to put the rest of it together; the Parts are pretty much sorted; all except a [correct length spindle] BB :twisted:

Sweet - as always. Love the apple green cranks, maybe a blue / green seatpost would look good cool as well? Nothing wrong with classic syncros though.

I will keep an eye out for a different post, but sometimes you can overload on Coloured Anodising eh.. Plus, finding anything in 29.4 ain't getting easier :?

Got some NOS Panaracers to go on him too.. Dart and Smoke skinwalls.. :twisted:
