East Midlands Area chat and rides thread

ed is that a c2 caliper i spy ? is it a pro lever ? could do with one for the mrs bike . i have a mono mini number 5 and a mini number 5 but im lacking a lever . id consider the brake complete just means id have a spare c2 . also is the disc 185mm ? could do with one of those too

Yes, yes (I think - the lever is not the cutaway one ?sport) and yes.

Problem is I'm a bit attached to that brake. I don't like discs as such but it has come in handy from time to time (like now), so a bit loath to get rid just yet. Sorry. However I have seen C2's go for as little as £28 on Ebay recently.

Here are some up now on ebay:

If you want to lighten it the forks are a good place to start. Those Bombers weigh a ton, second hand Rebas might be a good option....

yes - just need to find some with a long enough steerer!! Most people cut them down. I need at least 240mm, ideally 260. I can't afford new forks with uncut steerer. Especially now

Oh, and do they do Rebas with a v-brake option?

Yes, thats what I've got on the cindercone. They are also adaptable 85, 100, 115mm depending on spacers.

I have weights for the two types of fork: Reba 1610g, Bomber 2130g so thats over 1lbs saved...

I have found that 500g is hard to shed on components other than wheels, tyres and cassette (if you have a very, very bad one!) ;)

Clunker: The race series that Perry gave the link to has one at Hanchurch. Is this a regular biking area? I don't remember it as being that large. I used to live near Stafford and Hanchurch was an important part of Saturday night on the back seat.

Perry: It would be great to meet at Cannock, I'm sure you'd love it. I can't believe it has the same travel time as The Pines from Grantham.

Ed: Nice looking bike. By the time the rest of the vultures have feasted there'll only be the frame left....I'll have that :D

I'd have loved to have been there. It's sounds fantastic I just hate camping!

Older, lighter bike? Got to go Kona!! ;)

The only ones on Ebay at the moment are all disc specific :(

1610g - that's good

Any other good lightweight shocks with around 100mm travel and v-brake mounts you can think of? Might put out a general query along those lines.
