Haven't tried it before, but should be alright. My only van experience is about 9 miles in a box Luton when moving house a couple of years ago.
Depending on how much stuff we have it'd probably be a more comfortable journey in a big estate car if something like that can be hired for a similar price?
The rest sounds fine to me, though picking the van up at 8am would mean a very early start for me as it'll be a 2 hour journey just to get to Lowestoft!
