I know what you're going to say, but I need help!!!...
I don't know what to do....
My bike:
Alan SuperCarbonio
Dura Ace 9sp
Spinergy REv X (and another 'normal' wheels)
Look HSC3
Cranks: Dura Ace 7402
I want to change its cranks, and I 've got 2 options:
Aluminium (EDR) and Carbon (ZIPP 300).
Zipp 300 is lighter, but perhaps it's too modern for this bike.....
(but I use it as a modern bike, all weekend I usually ride for 100km...)
-this is an old picture..I've change saddle and stem position-

The Zipps are too modern but so is everything else on that bike by the looks of it so why not?

Probably better ditching the whole lot in favour of Record, circa the year of the frame. And some Cinelli bars without the 'ergo' bend.

Horses for courses, just my idea of what an Italian frame should have.

Mavic stuff would be nice too though ;)

I've got a "Mavic-wheel-based" (mavic Reflex, Hope Titanium, DT and blue alu nipples), but I always loved this Spinergy... (except for its weight!!).

This Alan was a "Zeus Columbus Aelle" with SH 105 STI many years ago...
then I bought the Alan frame....(a new one, in '90ies)
and then I started to put Dura Ace 7700 (when I was a student!!)

So....the Zipp ones is not too bad for that look??....
I'm crazy about this decision.....
(and I don't reject the idea of Dura Ace 7700 cranks...but it's "so normal"...)

My vote went with Alloy.

Have nothing against carbon as such but the only one I've been impressed by is Campag and you don't want that.....
