GT Pantera AL SS

Got this bike completely going for under $100nzd...
It's a GT Pantera AL frame with matching forks and stem

GT Seatpost, bars and cranks.
Old school Deore canti's and levers
Exage rear u-brake
Old school LX hubs

Put the new chain on and doesn't need the tentioner, but i'm guessing the chain will slightly stretch so left it on there just incase.
Only thing I'm going to do to it will eventually get some SPD's for it and thats about it.

Anyone tell me what vintage this frame is?

Now if only it would stop raining (well pouring, sleeting, snowing and hailing) so I can get out and ride it!

Yeah it's now got some 50/50xx's on it, but will switch to SPD's when I have the money.
The plate on the back of the top tube behind the seat tube with the GT logo is flat not curved. I got told these were only produced in 1 year?

right might be wrong on this (i'm sure someone will let me know)but
here goes
the pantera (your one anyway) pre-dates the zaskar
and would have been built in california i also think the avalanche was a topend model hence the flat top tube plate
not seen one with the u-brake mounted there tho ,usually on the chain stays
but the cable run looks from an RTS

As the previous owner I have thought the same thing re:flat rear cap. I had got all excited when I discovered that and went hunting through catalogues

It's a 1992 Pantera, the only year the Eastern built frames had the flat cap
The Avalanche of that year was White with blue(black?) tiger striping and was Steel! of all things. It was the year GT ditched the Flip Flop stem too

This pantera is the first of the far eastern built alu GT's it came with a suntour groupset and is from 1992.

This pantera is the first of the far eastern built alu GT's it came with a suntour groupset and is from 1992.

You sure about the Suntour groupo?
It had period deore everything except the lx rear de, and exage cranks and rear u-brake. Didn't come with wheels though.
