Brilliant post fiks, many thanks. I knew there was an article or similar somewhere in the Cycling archives. Ian C. used them regularly for a while but I don't think he ever said that his performances were due to using them - he was (and still is!) simply a very good time triallist.

However, they are very collectable - especially in the longer length. Mine are 170mm.

is it a gipiemme seatpost? If so, I had one circa 1983/4. Ended up using it for cross and drilling a hole thru it for a bare rear brake cable.
