Drop the fork length to as low as possible to get the feeling of a XC bike back. They look way, no they are to long for that bike. But then you've not got a front break either so you'll need all the travel you can get

You will need a cable hanger that screws into the bridge on your fork. You can't use a 1 1/8" headset cable hanger with suspension.
Try and find one from an old Kona fork. They have enough material and stiffness, so that you can make it fit your fork (but it will not be pretty...)
