Pre '90s Rocky information

Im on the look out for some information on the Rocky Mtn models pre '90s. I have some mag scans from the '88 and '89 brochures, but Im actually looking for info on the '87 and earlier line-up. My primer interest is for the detail-differences between the models with slooping toptubes.

Any info is welcome!

pretty hard to find, but on mtbr Rocky forum there are some class 80's Rockies posted :D

Jeroen, what kinds of details are you looking for? I'll help as much as I can, I've been riding Rockys since 1988. The info on them prior to that is indeed hard to find. '88 was probably the year they truly blossomed as a company.

I have an old item or 2 to scan and put on the Rocky archive, if I get two mins to myself.

Here is a bit of the 1988 brochure, the resolution is a bit low 'cos I had to resize it to upload it. Interesting that the Blizzard was offered with the optional non-sloping top tube configuration. Now THAT would be a rare find.

The Wedge was the bike porn of its day. I would have killed for one. There is one on the mtbr.com site, some guy in Saskatchewan using it as his everyday cruiser

I checked mine and my old room-mate's stashes for a catalogue when this came up before, but I'm sorry, we don't have that year.

This is my first Rocky, the Avalanche. It'll go to my grave with me. They had to change the name to Equipe as GT already had rights to the name Avalanche in the USA.

Its either a late '80 Blizzard or perhaps a Tantalus that is bound to show up at my doorstep this week... Super sloping toptube, and needs a throghough resto...
