Which shoes for flatties?

Thanks for the pointers you guys, plenty to mull over. I've struggled to find suitable shoes for a while- my favourite pair were the £15 Aldi specials that I bought last year, they were very good but the pins on my DMR pedals have destroyed them.
I have an appointment with the specialist on Friday to get my left foot sorted out- I think another bone has dropped and is rubbing on something it shouldn't again- painful unless I have really tight shoes on which is fine as my Answers as tight; will just have to cycle everywhere!
Big problem is going to be doing a rally on 3rd of next month- I left foot brake a lot and it's just too painful at the moment.

I thought this was going to be about orthopeadics for the obese...maybe it still is ;)

Off to get some new vans later today in Leeds for the BMX.

I've used....Etnies, Airwalk, Vans, DC Shoe Co and 5 10's .......all were fine for me.

Ditto that.

There was a particular style of Etnies that they no longer make (sadly) that were really grippy on cage pedals. :(
