You may not have to cut the axle down - the axle shouldn't be near to being flush with the dropout when the quick release is tight - you may find it's just about OK as it is with the spacers removed. If you have 2mm spacers, they've probably got locking tabs, so don't forget removing them increases the risk of the cones moving unwantedly.

You'll be fine, best thing to do is just strip it down and try it. Experiment a bit and see what works.
I've just done exactly this to put a 135mm hub in a 130mm frame. I had a spare 130mm axle that I used though.
You might need to trim your axle down a little bit. You might have a problem with the chain rubbing on the stay. You might need to re-dish the wheel to get it centred again.... But you probably won't
