Radio 1's newsbeat after the Nitrus/ modding car brigade

Kids eh! It's all Nitrous, hoodies, happy hardcore gangsta rap and crack these days. They should just ban teenagers, would solve all the worlds problems.

I love it when governments start banging on about this kind of shit. So some kid that fitted NOS to his car got killed? Very tragic indeed but how many kids have the government killed with pointless foreign wars lately? They hate youths don't they? There is always some crusade against them.

Let them spend their money on their cars, be fools, get the clap etc. Theres plenty of time to get boring, fat and middle aged later on.

Mind you, the cars they build do look toss!

Will someone bring me up to speed here? I've never owned a car but can spot A MILE AWAY a slack week in the news ( let's face it, Jade's been gone well over a week now ). WTF happened the other morning on BBC Breakfast? Suddenly the car modders became " the new paedophiles. "
Unlicensed, uninsured Burberry f**ktards in 20 year old Sierras were ignored and the crosshairs focused on people ( as sad as us ) who spend fortunes on tyres and NOS kits?
Is there a " news dartboard " they use at the BBC to play to the Daily Mail demographic when there's been no aircrashes or Madonna hasn't flashed her flange?

I'm sorry guys. Nothing like a new car race movie to make teenagers behave like retards. I remember how into-it everyone got with the first movie.

In practice, it'd be very hard to enforce ECU tuning rules. However, that doesn't stop the harassment if you have a tuned car with a low-restriction exhaust.

Any modifications to a car should be reported to your insurrance company. If a car is being driven on the road in a modified state without the insurrance companies knowledge it is uninsurred. Uninsurred cars / drivers should have their vehicles siezed and crushed. End off.

Just my opinion, you are entitled to yours too.

REKIBorter I agree, but even thats difficult to police, what about someone who's bought a second hand car, previous owner doesnt divulge the mod history, new owner unaware and then they end up with a fine/no insurance for something they didnt do.

I suppose its a case of ignorance is no defence..... :?

People need to be taught to behave responsably, i like a good blast now and again (in my Capri 3.0S) but there is a time and a place, that place is not built up residential areas.

+1 , the little feckers congrugate at a car park at the end of my street, they've been clocked at 84 going past my house. It was a nuisance before but now as a father I fell like..... Its not the modding I mind, far from it but the street racing, FFS head out to the hills or summat.

I was just thinking that last night. If these guys are getting harrased by the cops and becomming a nuisance why do they not head out of town?

When I was young and stupid (one of those terms still apply) we all had Escort Mk2's; this is when you could pic up a 10 year old RS2000 for a grand. We modded the hell out of them, every week we would buy Motoring News and buy pukka rally parts for buttons- 4 pots & vents, bilsteins, World Cup crossmembers, Big valve heads, Kent cams, weber 45's etc.
Saturday nights were spent on moorland roads- quick practice run around midnight and then a few timed runs- we even ran slicks a few times. We only put ourselves at risk (plus the odd insomniac sheep) and really learnt how to handle a car properly. We would then slowly sneek back into town in the early hours. We also got into road rallying, propper timed to the second stuff with almost full works tarmac spec cars- boy it was different in those days. We would never ever speed in town, we wanted to be inconspicuous as possible with those soft treadless Michelin TB's on- we would have been locked up using them on the road.

I don't know why they think a town centre with pissheads staggering about is a good place to race. Mind you we never saw any big titted young slappers up on Strines Moor back then- maybe the focus of youth has shifted from the fastest time to the smelliest finger at the end of the night?

yep youve got it right there si . nobody to show off to down the lanes so its laps of the town square

i used to stand by the side of the road and when another came round again shout at them " ARE YOU LOST ? DO YOU WANT A MAP ? "

its funny really if you want to go quickly somewhere you shouldnt you dont buy a big twat pipe to hang off the back of your plastic shopping car

when you hear a loud exhaust ( why dont they ever have the engine note to back up the exit sound  ) you want to see a fast car . not someones nans 1.2 crawling past

if you want to go quickly take it to a track

but all this is old news

These last few postings have hit it bang on the head. Why don't they ( they being the disaster magnet chavvy f**kwits in the car park ) do like bikers and say..." 'Ere that Tintern road to monmouth's a b@st@rd, let's do it! "?
No, they're the playstaion generation who've played Brazil and Italy but couldn't kick a real football for sh1t. It's all LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! They have to be seen to be doing something impressive.
