Roberts White Spider - unchanged since built for me in '94

I was never sure if the X-Lite and Pace stuff was UK made or made abroad and imported. The X-Lite seat post is just a stunner - so beautifully engineered and very light.

Pace all UK made. X-Lite some was UK, some was "offshored", different things (and proportions) at different times. IIRC at least some of the posts (they've had a few designs over the years) were assembled in the UK from imported shafts and UK-made heads.[/quote]

Yup, pace stuff was all UK made in a over grown shed in the middle of the north york moors.

I would love to find a roberts stem for mine however yours is the only one I have ever seen, so I am planning to go pace on mine. (currently using a ritchey as a temporary measure)

You can have a look at mine here, again the plan is as much UK stuff as I can muster. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57048

Theres also Jez's current project, a Dogs bolx to be found here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight=

In my recent brief stint of working in Christchurch (dorset not NZ) I went along and met Chas from Royce and had a good chat, talked about ordering a BB and getting him to disc tab up my genesis. Sadly a week later I moved back to Oxford after getting a better offer of employment, and the BB got put on the back burner and replaced with a easier to hand hope ti.

Fascinating chap with an awesome workshop full of push carts and bike bits...really cool. Sounds as though he could do with a person to answer the phone for him though, his phone was ringing off the hook whilst I was there, I am amazed he has time to make anything!

This thread is inspring me to go back to him now and complete the order.

Glad I didnt have the disc tab added and the canti mounts removed though!

Here's a pic of the Roberts stem -
