Rides/Meets question - South UK specific...

What kind of pace do you guys ride at and what distance generally?

I'm up for getting to some meets this summer but I've not even got my bike finished yet, let alone done any training. Have a feeling I'd be way too unfit!

Plenty of 'chat' stops :roll: . around 20 mile loop

the pace depends on if you all know the route

We are doing a ride from outside of Henley on Thames on the 18th. Distance will be about 20 mioles and the pace will be ratcheted back to suit all comers. The route has been revised slightly to be a bit shorter and to gain height gently.

Ok, cool, well I'll get out a bit first and get used to it as I've not ridden for ummm.... 10+ years!!!

Well I don't know about you soft southerners but us northerners ride 50lb 1930's Schwinns on 120 mile routes with 4500ft elevation gain. We are only allowed to stop when we need to get another packet of fags out of our rucksacks. Anyone who stops gets kicked until they get back on.

It doesnt matter, group ride + dog = not a good idea.

Very well behaved, depends on pace though, I mean if everyones hooning about on mad donwhill runs then it's a bad idea. However not sure I'd risk it... but then I don't ride without him so maybe I'll come say hi in the car park

on the subject of ride/meets etc does anyone ride around winchester
area unfortunatly not being able to drive limits my ability to get anywhere
to far away cos by the time i ride there i need to turn around and go
home!
