iPod Help Required

Next best solution would be a wired FM modulator. It actually plugs inbetween the aerial and the aerial socket on your existing stereo. Plug the iPod in, tune the radio in. Job done.

Something like this:

Alternatively, whip the CD player and fit a cheap tape deck, along with a 3.5mm headphone plug - tape adaptor.

Both methods work with reasonable success. Ultimately depends on how you feel about sound quality!

If you're not bothered by sound quality go for the above - These are good ideas but tape adaptors are awful and FM modulators/ transmitters are limited to the bandwidth of FM - you iPod will sound like its playing through a wooly sock.

If you want CD quality - look at the headunit and match up an adaptor from here:

(I used to fit this stuff for a living)

I use a Dension Ice Link.

I think they've been replaced now, but it basically plugs in where a multichanger would go and you have a cradle on the dash which the ipod fits in.
You can control the ipod from the stereo (only basic stuff on my early one but it is more comprehensive now).

my mate had one back in 2005 or earlier , worked great in his golf ( maybe its only german cars  ) the frequency was next to radio 1 and when early morning back road thrashing mates in other cars could listen too

Affraid not, my experiences were in a Bora (essentially a booted golf) and a Passat.

If Jez's works well enough it would be cool, but the price is pushing it up toards the realms of a wired kit with interfacing via the stereo controls...which is cooler.
