depends which model. The early year Zaskars are relatively straight forward - the first 4 digits represent the month and year 0496= April 1996. Not sure if this applies to the later models after about '98. Other models I think you need some sort of lookup table as it's not so clear.

If it's got original decals post a picture of the bike and I'll tell you what year it is by decal or color.
