Just been looking at an old Kona brochure from '94... Price list had both trade & retail prices (From Second Level Sport ltd)

Bike shops do make some money don't they!

Best thing we used to sell was a set of whoflungdung blue ano QRs for Â£18 that cost about Â£2

I remember looking at the Fire Mountain in 89 [Exage Country] and wondering if I'd ever be able to afford a bike as expensive.. :?

Remember people, VAT has to be paid on those so the profit margins arn't actually that big.

Bike shops clearly don't make as much money as outdoor shops. I used to sell climbing gear and the margins were much nicer than that (for me).

bikes shops dont make that much anymore, people would rather waste my time test riding a bike then buy it on chain reaction cycles... i know there cheaper but you should try support your local bike shops when you can..

just a pet hate off mine, work selling bike in cambridge (now part time) and get customers with "bikes shops are rich you can afford to reduce it 50%!"
