2009 Merida Carbon hardtail

Merida

Wats the damage on these new then? I tried a few Carbon frames last Summer and felt they lacked feel and gave the impression you were'nt connected to the trail.
A friend of mine who had a Zaskar Carbon who'd leant against a post to go for a cuppa, then dropped it against the post when he picked it up, bumping the top tube (not that hard) if you get the picture? It broke in two an hour later, fortunately the warranty was upheld, but it put him off and he sold the replacement soon after.

£1250 for frame

I was worried about it breaking on me also, never owned a carbon frame before and asked a lot of questions,my friend is a Merida rep and assures me that these frames are tested up to 18st rider weight, how that fairs against side impact/crashes ive yet to see but it has a 2yr warranty on it anyway.

:) Thats very nice fella. liking it .. love the choice of components.. hows the kcnc stuff measure up any good ?

Is the 'Other' Bike still on order ? ;)

Cheers Si ;)

No mate cancelled the Ibis and bought this instead, waited 7mths and then got told another 2 mths wait so told them to stick it.

got a kcnc stem/chain on the Specialised that ive been using for yonks and theyre fine, was worried about the seatpost as there was a recall on them due to the bolts snapping but luckily mine is one of the new stock with the upgraded 6mm ti bolts.

Merida

I suppose that's pretty reasonable value for a 1200g frame, so long as it holds up?
I have a Merlin Works 6/4 Ti frame that weighes 1170g, but cost £2600 ! (gulp) Its a life time guarantee, but they said if it breaks, you'll probably be dead, as You will either have been run over by a truck or fallen off the Mountain, so you won't be bothered? Nice sense of humour I thought? three times the torsional strength of 3/25, but it rides more like Aluminium as it is very stiff.
Does the Merida feel floaty? Or is it pretty stiff too?

Id expect a lifetime guarantee aswell if i paid that sort of money for my frame mate :D ,it feels very stiff yes, havnt really ridden it in anger yet so still to find out,it is a great feeling ride though.

:) I thought you might have cancelled the Ibis fella.. shame as I was looking forward to one of your builds :) but fair dooo's I get impatient waiting on stuff

My Principia MSL weighs in at a mere 1275 grams , I purchase this one back in 2001 and its still going strong ;) :) So I dont think you will have a problem fella :)

My Specialized FSR Carbon had a few side knocks , etc, and it seemed fine :?

Nice bike, no expense spared on that

Do like carbon bikes but always feel they are slightly fragile but I suppose it depends on what you use them for.
