Specialized Stout Hubs

Anyone know what year the Stout and axle front hub first hit the streets?

my 98MY FSR Elite had a stout front hub, and I believe so did the FSR's from the years before (as it was a suspension specific design iirc), they were XTR M950 grey (and the top of the line FSR that year had a M950 rear hub to match I think)

i've got a stout front hub/wheel I want to sell.
ritchey also made a stout style front hub.

My 1997 Stumpjumper Cro-Mo (rigid) had one in a silver-ish color.
Now I have the dark grey anodised version.
