has to be melins roadie for me, imatation is the greatest form of flattery, and nobody does it as well or as blantanly as the japanese :!:

For being a knock off it should have been of way lesser quality in the 1st place.

2ndly it is simply unique in many details.

Thanks for your vote though!

Ps see the pics of the Japenese bikes in the roadbike section. Unique and a level of refinement very uncommon for the rest of the world. With Japenese it is (was) not only about counterfitting.

voting

so ...... basically you're all voting for the Kona cuz it has a nice paint job and a few spangly bits ?? does this make a "good" bike ? if you give a Lada a great paint job and leather interior with a few anodised bits does that make it a good car ?? basically it's a mass produced frame made to look good hahahahahahahahahahaha i expect a few replies to this ....

Its a very good riding bike actually. Not gimicky. Pretty strong/purposeful and have always had great feedback from all that have ridden them. Light enough too without being to spangly...

Yes they were cheap at 500 quid for the whole bike but that essentially was a bonus too...

I hardly see it compared to a Lada...

So there!

Kona

you're right - i shouldn't criticise without actually having ridden one in anger ........ sadly i'm a steel freak .... all the other bikes i've owned that were alu frames were only second bikes ( Cannondale SM600 , Marin Indian Fire Trail , Specialised MMC ) I must be a bike "snob" as i've never considered Kona as a "top" brand worthy of my attention .... and none of my local bike shops ever sold them ( obviously Halfords do now ! ) I have however just bough a 2006 Carrera Fury - because my Salsa is going into retirement after 16 years solid service .... i suspect the Fury will take second place to the Wicked i'm in the process of putting together ...

Kona

premium brand ?? fact or good marketing ? hmmmmm i always hankered after the bikes i could never have ( Fat's , Merlin Ti's , Yeti's, Mountain Goat's etc ..... you know ? the ones we are able to buy now ...... Kona were NEVER in that league for me ...... sorry ..... i'm sure they are excellent - but if you had your choice of any of the bikes in this months BOM comp - i'd bet a fair bit of cash that you wouldn't choose the Kona .......... then again you do like Trimbles ....... hmmmmm
