so ive gone and spunked a load of money for not a lot of metal and my old hanger is attached to the dropouts by one allen key bolt.

when i try and undo it it goes loose, but then tight. even tho im turning the same way. it keeps up this cycle, so neither tightens up or loosens off.

on the reverse side, it looks like the allen key bolt screws into some kind of removeable part, almost like a nut that sits in the hole.

this is on a gt lts ds by the way!

any ideas?

sounds like its been threaded :( try holding the bolt with mole grips and pull hard as you turn it with them if poss.thats if the bolt is proud of the hanger,if not then you obviously cant do this.

:(

this bike has been nothing short of a disaster!

theres nothing really for mole grips to grab onto.

i tried putting a screwdriver into some slots on the back of it but cant get enough power to stop it turning.

I take it that the hanger is bolted on by a single chainring bolt ifso you can get the tool to hold the back of the nut from your lbs (shimano do a dura ace one) good luck Steve
