do you rag it hard

when was the last time you checked your pads ?

whip the wheel off and have a looksie , the disc shouldnt have any lip at the edge , if it does itl need new discs and pads

any sound when you have it on full lock and power hard ? or is it just braking ? any play in the wheel bearing ?

no i dont really drive it hard. i do alot of miles in it tho.

it makes the sound when i turn hard left while driving as well as braking. the disc has no lip but it is kind scratched half between the outside and the centre looks like something is scraping on it. how do i check the wheel bearing?

take it kwik fit m8,let the pros do it in 30 mins flat and save you the hassle.wont be expensive.

with the car up on an axle stand hold the wheel at 12 and 6 and rock it gently to test for play

sounds like you might have a stone caught if its scored the disc

Some makes of pad have a metal tab which is designed to make a horrible noise when the pads need replacing by scraping on the disk, but if the disk is scored it could be that the pads have worn down to the metal backing plates.
If you're not confident with cars, I'd do as has been recommended and pop into somewhere like Kwikfit (other tyre companies are available) and let them have a look see.

Just because it makes a noise when you turn doesn't mean the wheel bearings need adjusting, but they may do however they can check them too.

I thought that, but stones normally make a noise all the time not just when you brake. In fact they can sound worse when you're not braking.
