What sort of level kit was SACHS NEW SUCCESS road stuff in about the arly 90's?

Any info appreciated ;)

it was their best iirc, my mate had it on a moser leader ax frame (the bugno one from the 91 giro and tour) looked beautifully made but the down side was they didn't make and sti/ergo type lever system for it, they borrowed campag ergo design after a while iirc.

hope that helps :D

It was nice but never the same level as Campag Record.

Brakes were a borrowed Campag or Modolo design (forget which)
Chainset was an older Chorus model
Ergos were made for them by campag.

Only stuff that seemed to be their own design was the hubs and mechs - even then, the rear mech looks like it was made by campag.

nice

It certainly does look like CAMPAG ish stuff and appears to be beautifully made

The brakes are really nice.

Thanks chaps your info is hugely appreciated ;)

CIOCC

The CIOCC did not sell last week....

So may be getting adorned in non period SACHS and ridden

i will then have a lovely 59cm DYNA TECH frame spare :?:

Any taller riders out there please get in touch if you interested ;)

Sachs

New Success is lovely stuff. If you've got the hubs too, treasure them. The whole shebang is really well made, a lot of folk saved up for months to get that groupset before 'credit cards' arrived!

Will go well on that Ciocc I reckon.

Same old story, if it had been 2cm bigger I would have bitten your arm off.

They were Modolos, the same design that Mavic had previously bought, before they went to Dia Compe for the 451 hidden-spring model.

Sachs had bought up various bits of the declining French bike component industry in the late eighties and early nineties as competition from Japan really started to squeeze. Sedis, Huret, and Maillard all became part of the Sachs empire. Huret made the derailleurs (which also showed up in the Swiss EDCO Competition group), Maillard made the hubs and freewheels, and other parts were bought in as necessary.

Same old, same old but like I said before, I'd have loved that Dyna Tech if it was a 54. Sounds like you've made a real score on the wheels and group set though - I wouldn't be posting here about fitting it to that Ciocc, I'd have done it by now!

Why were you selling that Ciocc btw? It's a beautiful frame.
