Retrobike bitch slapped from VRC

Oh come on. I used the ' ;) ' at the end. Don't be so sensitive guys, its just the internet.

Most of the bikes in that thread are from Americans. Its not even a matter of where the bikes are from. Its just ugly built vintage bikes in general we're poking fun of.

You can't honestly say that a bike like this isn't a little bit lame.

Call me an asshole or whatever you want. If you actually met and rode with me, I'm not this horrible person you seem to think I am.

Orange71 said it best. Take it all with a pinch and you'll be fine. Especially if it comes from me. :D

In the words of the of the great Father Dougal, 'Careful Now'! That bike is the UK version of the original Breezer, just ask Repack Rider, pre-dates almost everything on this site. I think there are others far more worthy of your scorn :D

Fenders and chainguard are there to stop the British mud and rain getting on your tweed cycling shorts and were original spec!

I thought the name of this site is retrobike. That bike perfectly sums up that description.

Whether its a klein, a lemond original, my Pace, an old clunker or a raleigh grifter the old bike should be celebrated rather than maligned. BTW did any of those bikes that had the piss ripped out of them belong to MTBR members?

Just my 2p

>>>> In picking that bike in particular reveals a level of ignorance about something with a real and global historical offroad significance (ask CK...), but also an apparent inability to learn something new if it is not built in your back yard. About the equivalent of a Retrobiker taking the p*ss out of a newly discovered 'ham... Shame on you!

>>>> I though I tried that last year but you went AWOL...? ;-)

That was a silly thread with utterly predictable fascist-tendency results - but ex Mods would have seen that coming a mile off.... ;-)

i think VRC is much more defined in what they consider "good"

there is an element of OMG, 1993 PART ON A 1991 FRAME? BURN THE HEATHEN! about it, because they like factory-spec builds as a rule, whereas over here, we work to our old teenage lustings as the primary guide, and since we're all different, we have a broader church

What's the difference between an American and a yoghurt?

The Yoghurt has been cultured

Steady teddy, let's not get too upperty. This is a fun site for fun people. Pinch of salt, two side of the same coin, turn the other cheek etc....... added to which Eric seems to be one of the few americans who gets sarcasm, so we needhim!

Also bear in mind that is we piss off our colonial cousins they can withhold ebay delivery options, and we need those international deliveries!

I thought putting a smilie after a controversial post shows that you don't really mean it.... hmpphh, that was one of best gags too.

Some of the candidates for BOTM this month are more unusual than we usually see.

I am also convinced that in most cases - their respective owners are well aware that the boundaries of good taste are being overtrodden.

I am also convinced that the link to our thread was not meant in any other way than jest.
