Love cars hate Top Gear?

The uks fastest accelerating front wheel drive car was a maestro for a long time, don't know if it still is.

Its easy humour tho, taking the piss out of an old 'crap' car. I find it boring and ignorant.

???

Dont get you on that one - theres no excuse for releasing a crap car in the first place, then trying to big it up as something special will only lead to ridicule and rib tickling.

Ok - but:

1958 DeSoto Electrojector

''...The Bendix electronic fuel-injection system had many components modern fuel-injection systems employ including a fuel-pressure regulator, fuel rails, individual injectors, throttle positioning valve, an electronic cold start and warmup sensor, primary and secondary throttle bodies, manifold vacuum sensor, idle sensor, air temperature sensor, acceleration sensor and two fuel lines...''

That sounds vaguely EFI to me.

Escort XR3i - it worked, Maestro... hmmm

I'd have a Marina coupe with better brakes and the 1.8 twin carb engine. for a week or so.

Blah blah blah... etc.

Your scraping the barrel there mate. didn't say the first, but one of the first, and if it was so robust so early why didn't vw, benz and the like not use it in production first.

I'm a ford man I have have an rs turbo and mk1 xr2. But I'd be careful singing the praises of an xr3i's fuel injection.

er - they did...

Bosch:

''...The D-Jetronic system developed by Bosch in the early 1960's was the first mass-production electronic fuel injection system. It was primarily based on patents that Bosch licensed from the Bendix corporation. Bendix developed the basic idea of using an inductive element coupled to manifold vacuum as a component in a loop circuit ("multivibrator") to develop the basic injection pulse width. The system was first used on the 1967 VW Type 3 motors. Bosch continued development of the system, and it was last used in the D-Jetronic form in about 1976. Variants of D-Jetronic were used by other manufacturers (Ford, Toyota, etc.) for many years, and various forms of "speed-density" injection systems similar to D-Jetronic are still in use today. Bosch developed many more types of electronic fuel injection after D-Jetronic (L-Jetronic, K-Jetronic, etc.) that had improved characteristics, and still is a dominant force in fuel injection systems today...''

Found in your RS Turbo... (KE-Jetronic?)

Are we talking about the marina, the maestro or whatever else clarkson thinks is shit? Maybe a renault a610?

I'm all for a little rib tickling about my likes and dislikes but can't take a man who didn't know the difference between mechanical and electrical fuel injection seriously

Jetronic in an rsturbo is not efi, the fuel is injected manually it does not have electronic fuel injectors.

I have a fiesta rs turbo and it does have efi.

Renult Alpine A610. Please.

Renault please....

where is this thread going?
The EFi thing only started because it was accused of having twin choke carbs.

KE- Jetronic has an additional electronic control unit.

Christ, if this gets you all so exited, I'd love to live in your worlds.

''...this is tea dear, I wanted coffee...''

''Ok dear, heres your coffee''

''thank you dear, mmmm nice coffee''

''so, darling, how is the discussion on electro/ mechanical controlled fuel injection systems coming on?''

'' AAAAAAAARGH YOU F***ING BITCH, DIE! YOU M****** C***!!!!''

''not too well then dear? Biscuit?''

the early MG's had carbs.

as to where the thread is going, I've yet to select my biggest wind up merchant keys yet, but, I'm a fair way up the scale.
