Fitting a rack to a C16R

Got a Blackburn MTN-1 I want to put on my C16R. The wishbone stay has no conventional rack eyelets, but it does have a threaded insert where the monostay meets the wishbone.

Was planning to DIY a bracket but is there anything I can just buy to make it easier and still do a nice neat job?

Re:

I have seen in the past, an adapter that is a U shape that Blackburn themselves had as a spare parts for frames like your’s. May have been sold with the rack too when bought new. Try google or sjs cycles or ebay.

Re:

Found this and looks like it is on eBay.

I've fitted one to my P7, will drag out some close-ups. I fitted a single strap between the rack and frame using the threaded hole. The rack is so rigid I had no problem with sway or loosening of the fixings.

Have a nickel P7 which my partner uses as a day bike. Best fix is simple aluminium collar with bolt through, inner tube to grip and stop frame scratch, having bent arms on rack. that was on a cheap rack though, not a lovely blackburn. The single eye is the mudguard eye of course, but a simple U shaped section of alloy strip (the 15mmx3mm strip you can get in B&Q) with a single hole in the middle and a hole in each 'arm' to bolt the arms on the rack to would do it.

Thanks guys.

This sounds like what I've had in mind. The rack has 2 centrally located holes so a steel strap could be made up...need to find something suitable...I'm guessing bending ally plate would compromise it's strength.

...would be good to see your pics.

Slight bodge as the bracket is slightly short so the angle of the rack is a little off the horizontal. Not bad though, and neater than an adapter.

That's almost exactly like mine - although my P7 has an additional boss halfway up the rear face of the wishbone tubewhich helps a little.
