It was good to get out yesterday on my X1, and whilst the URT design divides MTB’ers this Marmite bike is still such fun to ride. The 15 mile undulating off-road route yesterday around Breckland kept me grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Like any bike once you get used to it’s quirks and predictability you can really enjoy the surroundings and let it soak up the terrain and obstacles. I still think it’s a great looking bike too, the chrome oozes a bit of class, along with the Carbon PACE forks, and the Orange branded components and a smattering of XT & LX parts. But then I am biased I guess. Anyway some pics from yesterday (note the Matchy Matchy Retro ROX God Rides Orange shirt)

Enjoy and Stay Safe,

Jussa

Re:

I sometimes think people forget to put bikes like the x1 in context. I remember when they first hit the market and going down to our local bike shop to go for a bounce around outside on them. It was my first ever ride on a full suss.. and my first ever shot with v brakes (m739).

To this day I can remember being so impressed with how plush the Stratos shock felt - and blown away with the awesome power of a box fresh set of v brakes. I wanted one soooo bad. Never got one of course!

Have to say - yours is probably the prettiest I’ve seen. They were released wearing Judys.. and with Judy matching yellow or red swing arms.. but the pace and orange look far more sweet.

Cheers Bud :D

That's probably one of the nicest x1's I've come across..

Personally I love URT 's. I'm biased though as a Mantra owner.

I wish I didn't sell my x1 now after seeing your beauty...

Good to see the classic, even if not loved by all, bikes getting some sunlight.

Cheers, I also love the Mantra they also get a lot of stick but that's the nature of the beast and the nature of URT's I guess. I'm really pleased with my X1, its a joy to ride and after owning it for many years now its still my fave in the fleet, and i also like Marmite, maybe there is some correlation lol

Re:

Good to know that Orange full sus isn't just about the single pivots.
Love the build but sorry for your house in picture 2. :)

Re:

That's a sweet looking X1. Great pics.
I feel suitably inspired looking at yours to go and get mine finished. Just cables and setting up left now :D
