Correct he used a 1.5 hardpack on the front and was a late convert to suspension forks, did not slow the bugger downhill though. I had a lot of respect for Dave as a rider.
 
Had a dig around last night and found a few bits and bobs. I have found the full spec for David Bakers 1992 race bike which might help.

Bit of a mish mash.
Thumbie was used because he said he suffered from hand fatigue on longer races and he could use his whole hand to shift instead of thumbs.

Cassette was a lash up because the XTR's kept coming loose.

Rear brake set up was because the XTR was too powerfull and just locked all the time. the cyclocross set up was just enough to slow without slowing too much :LOL:

Found pics of Paul Hintons Team bike from late 1992. It has full XTR M900 but with Manitou ! forks and Tioga Disc drive.

Cassette was a lash up because the XTR's kept coming loose.

I can vouch for this, the top spider used nut/bolt (like the chainring but smaller, they fixed this problem later by just using fixed 'rivots') .. I have 2 spiders and lots of rings lying in a box now (still) ;)

DuraAce chain = XTR chain btw.

So you'd need to look for '93 video's

It was Raleigh-Copthorne Hotels-Saab I believe. The team stayed in the hotels when travelling to events etc.

Very competitive for a person like me who lived near Hull (I actually do again ) and all we had :roll: some local bike shops (2 very nice and friendly ones mind you, Ken Ellekers, Cliff Pratt cycles) and then there was the bling but not so cheap Freetown Sports, before they moved to their current shop), and the days before t'internet and wiggle style shopping.
Eurocycles was dirt cheap in comparison, bought most my parts from him.
Yes from his garage, and his parents went to Germany etc bringing the stuff back, lol. Hard job ;), he moved a few years later down the road (I used to dingy sail near there as well)

Anyways, back on topic..

I saw them and thought of you - but didn't know your size!
