I've been procrastinating on YouTube all afternoon

Amazed at some of the machines available! You could buy a decent bicycle for less money than some of them cost :shock:

What's the used market like for these? I see it like bikes - new ones can be good, but fixing and using old ones is somehow more enjoyable and satisfying. Just as long as spares are available...

Used market is tricky... same as bikes, you can find one that was an impulse purchase and never used, or crashed and ruined on the first drive.

TBH, they wear quickly, so I'd be tempted to buy new.

I'm not selling, but I have an HPI firestorm flux, and that, or similar, is what I'd recommend as a starter truck. It's light, fast and simple to repair. 'normal' 1/10 electrics (motor & speed control) and runs well with a single lipo.

I also have a Kyosho mad force, it's big, heavy and very powerful - I would NOT recommend something like that as a first purchase. Needs 2 batteries, respect, and you can really do some damage with it.

I'd really like a tamiya fox, just as I had BITD. Sentimental reasons, nothing more. But it's still one of the best looking

So, I bought myself another fox I'm in no rush to build it (can't anyway until my lad gets his!)

It's still in the box unopened, and I'm already thinking about the next one, or two... :facepalm:

That's out for it's first drive next week, track reopens (properly).......

And that one, did a full rebuild last autumn, hasn't turned a wheel since!

I used to race a 1/10 Tamiya touring car in the early-mid 90’s.

My kit was the 4WD Michelin Pilot Escort Cosworth as driven my Malcolm Wilson. Although I changed the lexan body several times to touring cars for racing.

There was local club called the Cleveland Buggy Club ran by a couple called Ron and Sue. Every Saturday night there would be heats on at an indoor carpet track within a hanger at Teeside Airport.

There were F1 races along with Tamiya saloons and a model specific Le Mans style brand.

It was always rammed and I was one of the younger racers (was in my teens then).

I remember spending all my pocket money on different tyre compounds, hop up parts and lightweight bits. You’d have to judge the track (which changed each week) and adjust everything from your gearing to camber and toe setting as the cars were so evenly matched.

They also held lots of events and you raced to earn points in a championship where vouchers and parts along with silverware was won...

I loved it, and it taught me a lot about vehicles as a lot of the adjustments were relevant to full scale vehicles.

Years later I made my wife to be have a right chuckle at a trophy I won claiming I was the ‘indoor carpet champion one year’! !!!!!

Had a bush devil bitd that got me into racing at local club. I got a traxxas buggy (can't remember what model) and then bought a losi xx off a mate that he'd built really badly, but by then I'd got into bikes.
I bought myself a Classic Blackfoot a couple of Christmas's ago and used it one or twice in the woods, then a couple of times on the beach.. it was ace on rocks, but not touched it since (still covered in salt, I'd imagine, eek).
Just waiting til my lad is old enough to dig it back out again, but he's only 10 months haha.

I bought a FWD MO-5 Tamiya citroen 2CV a few months ago. It's barely been used as I realised quickly that I prefer the off-road trucks more. It's fully ballraced with a few nice hop ups.
