Scalextric and other slotcars (with lot of pics)

I have to finish off restoring the curves I got with the second batch, but the Mrs was out for the day and we couldn't resist taking over!

I had to have two transformers per lane to get it working well enough.

Ebay has been a great distraction whilst the little one wants to watch bing bunny or Peppa pig!

Love the detail and accuracy of the Scalextric releases over the last few years.

Looks like I'm not alone in this group in collecting slot cars then? And it was nice to have a read through this section and look at the great photo's

Since childhood I've fettled with and collected old racing bikes, records and HiFi and Scalextric/slot cars, I come and go between hobbies but these have always been the core and the engineer in me has always liked to make and repair rather than just collect things so these are a couple of the cars I've built recently, they are 1/24 scale cars with some being AMT slot kits that I've modified slightly, some that use static kit bodies on modified AMT chassis and some that use H&R racing chassis. The track is K&B Aurora track from the 1960's

Most of my collecting is 1/32 but I started out collecting Scalextric as a child and then added all sorts of other makes as I discovered them so being British Airfix/MRRC, VIP, Riko and Supershells etc. but also a lot of US makes like Monogram, Revell, Strombecker and K&B etc. Plus the more recent Spanish makes that appeared after the Spanish Scalextric factory closed and of course Scalextric from all off the different factories in the UK, France, Spain and Mexico.

Wow, you guys are on another level. When I was a nipper my brother and I had a simple oval with banked corners, he had a green GT40 which even on the outside track would beat my yellow Muira, which I still have.

Are you still adding to that Escort collection and did you get this years club one?

Crap weather and being grounded by the Government means I've used my time wisely and built a fair few more 1/24th scale slot cars, so here's a couple of pics of some of my recent builds and a work in progress.

I was bored at the weekend so I finished this 1/24th scale Chicago Police car, I've been slowly building it for a while but its done now.
