Raleigh Technium 440 Road Bike circa 1984

Rewind

Retro Newbie
This is my Raleigh USA Technium 440 road bike dating back to 1984. These are rare in the UK as they were only ever marketed in the USA. For the time the frame was quite advanced being made from alloy tubes (6013-T6 heat treated alloy) and steel lugs bonded together with aircraft type epoxy adhesive. The front forks and rear triangle are steel (I think Reynolds 531 but possibly Raleigh 555). Gearing is 53/39 front and 14-28 six speed rear cassette. Gears are Suntour, brakes are Sugino Dia-Compe (new brake blocks fitted). A new chain is fitted. As can be seen the tyres are almost new Schwalbe HS159 Puncture Protected. All brake and gear cables are brand new. Gears have been correctly adjusted and function smoothly, the stops at each end of the travel are properly set. New bar tape is fitted. Paintwork is all original, one or two small chips but it is much too good to repaint, all transfers etc. are present and correct. The alloy rim 27 inch x 1.25" wheels are in excellent condition, they run true and all spokes are evenly tensioned. Frame size is 21 inch (54cm). The saddle is the original Selle Royal and the seat post is a"fluted" alloy SR Laprade. If you want something different this is worth considering. £160 ono Location Otley, West Yorkshire, would much prefer collection by buyer. Call me on 07817339613 for viewing.
