Heres a few Tufftrax pics - I bought this new in '95 & have just done a rebuild - not a back to original resto though, but all credit to those that do ;>)

I had a £500 budget and fell for its metallic purple paint in an MBUK full page advert. A good enough enough reason for me anyway, as was its reasonable spec for the dosh, so I got one from Ribble cycles & got it muddy, rode it with my eldest daughter in a childseat, with my youngest in a trailer, with the trailer loaded with shopping, and with 2 broken derailleurs until enough was enough.
I burnt the old decals & paint off before having the frame beadblasted. After respraying it back on went the cleaned up bits plus new Deore derailleurs, cables, STX cluster, STX cantis, Deore BB & MPart headset (was & feels cheap).

Here it is after a wet trip to the shops. The SCS mudguards are back on & I now wouldn't ride without them - 13 years ago I wouldn't have been seen dead with mudguards but you can't beat riding in the rain & coming home with yer arse dry yknow!

I also had the black Sahara Elite with the pink decals.

Based on Chris's picture of the red 1993 Sahara Elite, the black one is likely a year or 2 older - So around 1992?

The red 1993 has a suspension fork (innovation!) and a couple of frame details that trickled down from the Kilis, like cabling along the side of the toptube and the pierced seat-cluster.

I can't remember when I bought the black one, but it served me well for years of MTBing, commuting and tours in Ireland and Malta.

It got totally stripped of parts when parked in the street. Twice!
Including Salsa, Pauls and other nice kit.

The second time it happened, I retired it and used the insurance payment to fund my first Kona.

Terratrax

The Terratrax has arrived just put what bits i had on it. Waiting for a new freehub and some rear V brakes. Will get some better pics up only had mobile this afternoon. Might spend a bit on some xt bits but not sure.

Saracen Kili Ultra ti

I got this from those nice people at saracen when my origonal kili flyer developed a cracked drop out. I had to pay a balance for the upgrade (about 300 pounds). I was very happy with the arrangement. Specially as they also let me keep my old flyer that i had repaired.

Anyone know how many they made? must admit I've never seen another one of this vintage with the wishbone seat stay. The stickers became scruffy so they have been removed. Saracen can't supply new ones, but I mustn't complain.

any info on the ultra please

the tubing is AL2/2.5v.

Is it a re-badged frame from another manufacturer or or a unique saracen product.

There's no frame number, does anyone have any idea on the numbers made?
