Mr. Tange from Japan

I work for a Japanese owned company, we have a new member of staff from Japan called Mr Tange. I've always thought Tange, as in the Japanese tubeset company, was pronouned tang. I've certainly heard it said the same way by many other bikers. Turns out it is pronouced tan-gay.

Me too - 'cause if you pronounce it correctly, nobody knows what you're on about!

In Japanese, consonants are always paired with a vowel. The only exception is "n", which is more like the French "n" in "un bon vin blanc"."Gi" and "ge" are always a hard "g", like in English "get" and "git". If it's a soft "j" sound like English "jet" or "Jim", it'll be written with a "J".

Same with Sugino.
