1973 Mercian Vincitore

Finally got around to sorting this out, after it’s been sat in the garage for several years!
Frame was originally made for my Dad, who then built it up, and continued to ride it well into his 80’s.
Pretty good nick (mainly due to his engineering background and tendency to cover everything in oil!) with some nice period kit, including all the parts to run it with dual front rings.
Even got the original receipt for £48.25!

Really beautiful and the fact it was your dads makes it one very special Mercian.
The set up and the parts used show he clearly knew what worked and built it to ride.

Looks great and the Stronglight single, IMHO, really suits it. Reminds me of the style of build I used to see parked outside club stop cafes in the 70's when I was riding about on a Dawes Chevron! Just needs a weathered Carradice saddlebag to finish it off

After all those years I've built up a '73 Mercian Superlight which is fitted with Mafac "Competition" stoppers. Do your "Racers" scream like a banshee too?
