The only Escort I would buy is a Mk3 RS Turbo in white. Lovely cars, and before they lost the plot with the superdull Mk4.

Nah, buy a mint MkII and then cut it up as a donor car for a nice kit. Watch the Ford loonies cry.

yeah, a mexico or RS would be sweet for that ;)

My mum had an Escort Cab Ghia when I was 17.

Managed to borrow it a coulpe of times and the looks you get as a 17 yo in a Escort cab at the time were pretty funny :)
.

Although possibly reasonable motors aren't the Escort /Sierra RSs the Konas of the car world? They command quite high prices despite the fact you could probably get a genuine performace car for less.

This thread gets better.

Jon - buy the Escort and a Cinder Cone and bring both to the Turkey Twizzler

you mean point and laugh for paying over the odds for a car when you only use the axle that lacks discs but has plenty of whine , a steering column and rack that is over 3 turns lock to lock , a xflow that needs a complete strip down or a pinto thats over weight , not to mention the leaking m16 calipers or tired 4 speed

you just end up with a ropey 80s locost  even the sierra based cars are getting long in the tooth now everyone is using the hayabusa engine

Absolutely, that is all they are good for!

Mate used to have a car sticker that said 'I'd rather eat worms than eat a Ford' - Class!

Although saying that, there is something soooo sadly cool about a Focus ST220 thingy in Asbo orange...
