I am thinking buy it, SORN it, stick it in my garage and sell on it Summer 09 at a profit (after poncing for a week or 2 if the sun shines  )

So, do I buy or walk away???

If the economy wasn't in the state it is I'd say buy it, you're plan would be sound if so many people weren't having money troubles. Look at all the people who've lost their jobs just on this site in the past month.
Can't see it being over by next summer honestly. Car sales are down all over at the moment too.

As for poncing around in it for a week......Are you a man or a hairdresser??

Buy it - small economical cabrios will be very sort after over the next few years, (I used to get 48mpg out of my RS1600i)

Things like the Peugeot 205 CTi and stuff like that, as long as the hoods mint, will start to pick up next year.

if its a top specced model, there'll be ABS, heated screen and a trip computer. These things were built in Germany to a better standard than the Daganam dustbin.

There is some scuttle shake but they are quite fun to drive and will keep up with todays traffic.

My mate had one for his 21st birthday - many a summer day looking gay as a gay trhing driving around Cambridge (my mate beinga Morrisey looky likey and as hetro as you can possibly be)

If it was 1992 i'd agree. Sorry, there is zero 'demand' for old crap cabrio's.

I don't think the economy will have any influence (+ve or -ve) on sales of cars like this. They are almost novelty items.

If you like it, offer him £500 for it but this is not an investment!

£500 would be my offer too....
No tax? No MOT as well? Could look amazing on top, but underneath could be a different matter. Get the seller to put it through an MOT (if it doesn't have one), then haggle on the price.
There are people out there who like retro fords  , and if it is mint, it would be an aspiring classic (not my bag though!).

I do stress its NOT the one pictured!

The colour is goldy/browny.

I dont know on MOT, but it has no tax. Visually, its mint. Hood, mint. Interior, mint.

I am only considering it to make a few quid, not as an owner/driver! I have a Vectra SXi and a Subaru Legacy to keep me entertained! ;)
