Despite repeated phone calls and emails still can't access my account, their only response is

First of all, I apologise for the inconvenience. I can see that you have
spoken twice to our specialists, however the error continue to appear once
you attempt to log in. We recognize this is a known issue and the technical
team is currently working on it.

This has been going on for about a week and the backdoor way in they suggested now appears firmly shut.
Anyone else got problems?
With the fees they charge should at least be able to employ some decent IT staff.
Ebay and Paypal, what a right win double :(

go retro! use cheques! :D i was thinking a while ago that i might get a paypal account but then everytime i log on here or talk to friends i hear nightmare stories and hassle and disputes etc so i just look to buy off people after checking their feedback etc and make an informed choice as to who i trust.

i know that is no help but i just thought i'd mention it.

Trouble is JB, many many people only deal in Paypal on Ebay.....thats why me and the wife eventually gave in and got a PP account

Always run with it nearly empty......just incase ;)

i email people in advance and ask if they will accept cheques and so far no one has refused, most are happy to lose the fee that paypal charge them, but again i check the seller, the shops on ebay are usually pretty cheap, sometimes near trade price and they are usually happy to accept a cheque or have a phone number to pay by card, never had an issue so far.

i just cringe when i hear you guys say you paid by paypal for whatever then don't recieve goods and then have to go through all the hassle of a dispute thing and then win but still can't get your money back because they have taken the money out of their account, chaps my ass!

i have only ever bought relatively small priced items off ebay so don't feel to concerned about sending a cheque and i only buy off people on here who i know have been around for a while with a good retrobike reputation, for example i would send you anything in advance of cashing a cheque because i can tell from your posts and attitude and the fact that you have been stitched up before that you are trustworthy, same goes for several others.

i trust the regular mainstay retrobike forum members quite happily and lets face it there are no fees here for selling or commision (thank you john)

:D

Paypal is crap without doubt-

To protect yourself I would keep very little in your account
Keep postal records forever! A credit card company can ask for proof of postage up to 18months after the sale!! If you dont have it they take the money for the sale off you!!

Personally I am trying to move to cheques as ultimately Paypal offers zero protection from people who know how to play the system.

Once this saga is over I shall only be keeping it for the odd Ebay transaction. Haven't got much in there anyway and totally agree about cheque or bank transfer.

The credit card thing is very worrying and got bad vibes about a recent sale, fortunately it was a sent using a tracked service and I have proof of a signature which is even visible online.

Still pretty miffed that they can't sort out a technical issue a bit quicker than they have so far
