Today's ride, in memory of Pat.

Very hot today.

Rode out to and up Silverhill, great views and is meant to be the highest point in Nottinghamshire. More importantly it has a long fire/gravel road descent, about 1 and a half miles long. Not as extreme as Pats stomping ground but being Saturday there were lots of people there to dodge, and i made a point not to touch my brakes all the way down :)

One for Pat.

Out along quiet roads until the bridle way beckoned. Little used back way up to a winding climb through woodland to the ancient fort.

Only to be met by lots of inquisitive boys, keen to check out my ride. Rather than make a fuss a little fence hopping was required. And still they came.......

Skirted the fort and was pleased to find possibly the best kept footpath. I’ve played on worse fairways.

Cheers Pat. Hope you’re enjoying the rides.

Re:

A day late due to family commitments but thirty-odd miles today on my trusty Palisades Trail, thinking of Pat's wonderful photos and ride reports frequently. Lots of good things have come from Marin County.

RIP Pat.

Not a ride as such, but a trip out to a local classic car show. Having met Pat at his house I knew he liked his classic cars - so every time I saw something interesting with four wheels I'd tag him on my Facebook. Pretty much every car I posted he'd either owned or driven at some point. That extended to motorbikes too of course - for the last few years I'd send him over a copy of the TT programme so he could follow it on whatever obscure digital stream he could find. So today I was thinking about Pat as I wandered the rows of cherished classics and what he would have said to the photos I would have sent him.
