Campag friction shifter - need help with installation

Hi all,

I'm building up a Ciocc of some description (it may be a fake Ciocc, but it's quite nice nonetheless) having trouble with my shifters. I have had these installed on other frames with no issue. The screw is in as far as it can go and the shifters are loose. Am I missing something here, is there a workaround, or should I look for a smaller screw?

Re:

Have you tried tapping the thread in the boss?

Washers to fill the gap?

A shorter screw might work, but you'd have to either cut down the one you have, or use a non-original one

I gave the bosses a rinse with WD40 and took a greased Shimano screw with a lot more thread on it and a decent screwdriver and managed to get it into the boss further than the Campag one, meaning that when removed, the Campag screw fits a treat - so it needed some elbowgrease! Maybe it was full of grime and the screw has cleaned the threads out. Anyway, thanks for the help! Will post some pics of the bike soon :)

Take 0.100” off the male thread length run a tap down the female thread on the boss & you’ll be good to go.
