95 Kona Explosif

A bit happier with this arrangement. A 7 mm spanner tightens it, and the brake works great.

Super clean ! Love it

Thanks! Got the bars, stem and saddle on. Bars are a bit narrow for me so they'll be changed, but finished for now. I'll get some photos up when i ride it to work on saturday :D

Finished... For now!

Went out for a 10 mile shakedown. First impressions:

Them bars are narrow. Compared to my 780's on the other MTB....
Forgot how sharp original v brake can be, much better than the ones on my cross bike.
Chain Slap!!!
The forks are superb. A little too little damping, but i'll solve it with some heavier oil. Maybe slightly heavier springs too. When set ideally the little rebound adjuster hits the cable stop on the RH side of the Downtube. I might modify this.
Its Fast. A right XC ripper.

Can't wait to get it out onto the red route at Dalby. The same terrian i rode in the 90's on similair bikes.

Really happy with how it came together.

Re:

Nice build, similar to my own '95 Explosif but you need to turn the dog collar back the other way dude! I believe Al was referring to the inset pic as being the wrong way round. The elongated slot in the seat tube needs to line up with the dog collar.
