Mheywoo1’s Sales Thread: Pace, XTR, titanium, Chris King...

Re:

Next up is a rare and desirable Bontrager race lite wheelset from around 1997-8

Keith Bontrager commissioned specially reinforced hub shells from Chris King with beefed up flanges to deal with the higher spoke tensions required from the 24/28 spoke count and radial front lacing pattern.

The rims are top of the range Bontrager with ceramic brake surface and an offset rear spoke arrangement for more even tension

They weigh an amazing 645g front and 835g rear

Condition wise, there are a few imperfections listed here:
- front rim is fairly new but the ceramic braking surface has come off in spots in places. The actual amount of wear is low - under 0.5mm. See photos
- Whoever replaced the rim must have lost 9 of the spokes and used silver ones which are slightly too short. Wheel truth & strength is fine, but if I were keeping them I’d spend £9 on new, correct colour spokes.
- one of the end caps is slightly damaged so when inserting in the fork, you’d want to ensure this was facing downwards for correct wheel alignment. This should be an easy part to replace. See photo
- the ceramic coating on the rear rim is more worn and there is scoring on one side, around 1mm deep on the inside edge of the brake surface. The rest of the brake surface is similarly less than 0.5mm worn per the front. See photos
- the bearings in the rear hub are slightly “grumbly” so either need replacing or a re-grease

Taking these issues in to account, I’d like £225 for them.

I have 2 sets of period correct Bontrager Revolt Folding Bead tyres that I’m happy to sell with them. One set of knobbliest and one set of semi slicks. They both fall in to the “rider” category, not garage queen.

Re:

Seatposts.....from left to right, £25 posted to UK each

- early USE Sumo carbon. 27.2 x 300mm

- USE Alien 25 x 350mm. Super light and nicely flexible. I also have a shim to 27.2 and 29.4mm for an extra £4 each

- Control Tech 26.8 x 350mm. The photos make it look a bit worse than it is. There is a scuff on the RH clamp at front, glue residue from missing decals and areas where the anodising has rubbed off. It will clean and polish up well though and is quite a useful size.

Re:

British Bling

- Hope Susp hub. Great condition other than the three hairline cracks shown where the flange is pushed in to the titanium sleeve. I probably would ride it like this. Was laced radially previously. Great bearings. Worst case, would be good for the spares. £17.50 posted

- Pace RC31 canti Brake Clamp’s. Little used and good condition. Just need a polish. £30 posted

- x-Lite alto pro bar ends. Usual scuffs but otherwise good order. £15 posted > SOLD
