Retro Car - now on ebay

Retrobike Rider
I never use my car any more. I can get away with riding most places, and using my wife's car when I absolutely have to, so I'm selling my trusty old Polo.

It's a shiny red 1989 Coupé S. Showing it's age but runs well. Its MOT has lapsed and I've declared SORN, but I'd really like it to go to a good home.
It's done 146,166 miles, has a bit of a ding in the back end but has very little rust underneath (according to my mechanic).

Due to an unexpected amount of interest (not all from here!) I have now listed the car for sale on ebay:

Had one of those for my 1st car... I loved it!

damn tempted...but really have no use for a 2nd car and totally no room to keep it!

Oh go on, it's nice & shiny and has an electric aerial! It's got the original stereo in, and come with a free mixtape!

weight it in, will get a damn site more than fifty quid. unless you dont want to see it die

Harsh, very harsh.......but oh so true

Gave my mate a hand weighing in his stinking pile of sh17 Escort that had been dying on his driveway for years. He got £60

Same here... except it would be a 3rd car for me! Still tempted though...
I'll chuck some links up elsewhere - definitely don't scrap the poor thing!

Scrap prices are way down from what they were a few months ago, and that would be a crime anyway!

I won't be scrapping it! Even if it is an evil polluting automobile!
I want it to go to a good home.

out of interest & vaguely on topic, a rough idea of how much a VW passat estate is worth as scrap? still works fine.. maybe I should just rip the back seats out, dedicated mtb machine :)

Not much anymore! If you'd scrapped it 6-months ago you'd have got a couple of hundred quid, now you'd be lucky to get £50. Plenty of people still like retro VWs though - it'd have to be pretty ****ed to be worth scrapping...
