Chainstay UBrake.. Why??

All I can say is what happened to me. The arms of the V brakes, cantilevers, will not spring back into the tire as the diacompe u brake did if they are released. Not sure if a shimano u brake would do this, but a cantilever, V or disc would not if they released. The v and cantilever also have flexible connections where the tire would hit unlike the U which wraps around the tire. Not to mention how close the u brake arms were to the meager 1.95 width tire.

I had the Suntour roller cam on my 87 Muddy fox Explorer, cracking bike..
The only problem with those brakes were they were either on or off, not very good for porgressive braking...however they were powerful brakes!!

Plus they tended to clog with mud!!
