Back up for sale due to time waster. :/

9 Speed Tiagra Shifters in solid 100% working condition. Very decent cosmetic condition with some worming on the levers and a scuff on each face plate. If I was to keep these I would strip and paint the levers/touch up the face plates and these would look new.
A bargain price at £26 + £3 postage.

Under lacquer worming gives an interesting marble effect ;)

Re:

I’ll let that go for the moment, but as I am obviously the person who bought your levers, I do resent being called a timewaster.

Re:

They are classed as 4500 Tiagra shifters which are claimed to work on a triple chainset. There are definitely x3 shifting clicks on the lever. I only used them on a double setup but online information states that 4500 works on a triple setup.

Re:

I'm pretty sure the code would be SL-4503 for a triple. 3 clicks I think means one shift, inner ring trimming, outer ring trimming.

Just a test with a cable would confirm as the trimming only pulls a short amount.

Let me check against the 10 speed version as I have both double and triple.

That's exactly what I thought. As I said I've only ever used them on a double front setup but peeps on t'internet say that the 4500 also runs a triple front?!

They were meant to be compatible with both doubles and triples, as far as I remember. I run a set of them with a double chainset. I'm pretty sure mine have an intermediate click (for trimming), then a proper click, (for doubles) another intermediate click and another proper click. (for triples)

The limit screws on the mech stop you from using the additional shifts on a double. There should be a Shimano techdoc, somewhere on their website, which should back this up...

Re:

The research I've done makes these very similar to the ST-4600 series which is the 10 speed series.

It should be clearly marked on the front piece "Double" or "Triple" on the left hand shifter.

I'm after a triple.

UPDATE: Found this discussion. So it looks like there were 3 levers around in the ST-4500 series.

I'll move on thanks, and continue to look for the specific triple ST-4503. GLWS.

Re: Tiagra 9spd STI Shifters £26 +3 postage

The front plates only say 'Tiagra'.
However I put a gear cable in and sure enough they only show one full distance 'shift' click and two half distance 'trim' clicks (one either side of the 'shift' click).
So this is most definitely a double front shifting set of shifters.
