1997 Orange P7 BB

Girth

Retro Newbie
Hi folks.

I'm building up an 1997 P7 frame using period parts and I need to know what length bottom bracket axle it would have been fitted with originally.

Already tried e-mailing Orange and they don't know.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Dave

Re:

It would depend on the cranks and bb shell width. You can measure one, but what cranks?

Re:

Here you go: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html

As Ishaw says, spindle length varies according to the particular cranks, the shell width is determined by the frame and will be either 68mm or 73mm, 68mm is more common, but you can measure it with a ruler easily enough:

Re:

Yeah, I already know the shell length.
And the chart you gave a link to says anywhere between 107-113mm.
I just want to know what it left the factory with

Re:

I'd take a guess at 113, 107 tended to be for xtr m900 cranks. It would depend on the LX model you plan on using though.
