I just used washing up liquid. Once they were squishy enough, I covered them in leather wax and kept going until they were back to normal.

Don't forget to rinse well to get rid of the detergent. Renapur is fantastic for conditioning leather.

adverse reaction with the Leather...brown streaks ...looked like a bad case of Delhi Belly...

Get some olive oil on a clean rag and rub it all over lightly,
This should give you a uniform finish and it with also feed the leather.
Alternatvely use saddle soap to condition the leather.

It's with a tinge of sadness that I am going to finish this build without the help of Lars (Klunkin' Larry) Weber.

The sad news of Larry's death reached me today and as he donated many parts to this build I am going to stop spending time on my other bikes and finish this in his memory.

RIP Larry, I will miss you so much brother.
